Callous Shoplifters steal over $600 of comics from Apotheosis bookstore
Yesterday, Apotheosis Comics took to social media to reach out to the St. Louis community. Here, they provided CCTV footage that showed a team of three thieves stealing comics. On Instagram, Apotheosis wrote: “At 3:30 today a group of three shoplifters came in and stole over $600 worth of graphic novels and omnibuses. If you recognize the people in these pictures, please let us know.”
It is believed that the thieves stole books from the lower shelves and one may have distracted the worker by talking to them while the other targeted the books. The full Instagram statement can be seen below, as well as CCTV stills of the suspects.
Understandably, this announcement prompted a reaction of outrage and sympathy from locals who commented on the situation. Over the years, Apotheosis Comics has become something of a hub for St. Louis comic book fans and stocks a number of comics from various authors. Some of these books can be particularly expensive which it is believed were the ones stolen from the store.
Unfortunately, many of the stills were very grainy and hard to identify the culprits with. However, the last image in particular got a good look of one of the suspects. It is believed that the police have been notified and an investigation is underway.
