Indian Curry Hut opens new restaurant in a familiar Milwaukee location

Curry Hut, a beloved Indian comfort food establishment, has recently inaugurated its second branch in the lower east side. This new location boasts a delectable selection of Indian dishes, featuring naan, masala, korma, vindaloo, and many more mouthwatering options.

This fresh addition occupies the space formerly held by Wisconsin Pizza Authority, situated at 1888 N. Humboldt Ave., just across from Finks cocktail lounge and the original BelAir Cantina. It’s worth noting that Wisconsin Pizza Authority ceased its operations in November 2022.

Curry Hut initially opened its inaugural branch in October 2022 at 9809 W. Oklahoma Ave. The masterminds behind this venture are the talented siblings Kavita and Sanjeev Sharma. They initially sought a location on the east side but encountered challenges in their search. Ultimately, they decided to establish their first restaurant at the corner of S. 98th St. and W. Oklahoma Ave., adjacent to Desi Market, a well-known Indian grocery store.

The Sharmas fortuitously stumbled upon the vacant space previously occupied by Wisconsin Pizza Authority at 1888 N. Humboldt Ave., prompting them to launch a second location just months after their first restaurant’s inception.

Mr. Sharma, with prior experience in cooking at a catering company in India before moving to the United States 13 years ago, embarked on this culinary journey after facing difficulties securing employment in restaurants. Determined to share their love for Indian cuisine, he and his sister decided to open their own restaurant.

The menu at this new establishment closely mirrors the offerings at their original location. Patrons can expect a delightful array of dishes, including classics such as butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, mutton biryani, paneer pakora, and malai kofta.
