Operating as distinct enterprises, The Lodge of Lazarus Crowe and Hourglass Bar & Café are set to make their debut later this month in St. Paul.

The St. Paul City Council is anticipated to approve a liquor license on Wednesday for Hourglass Bar & Café, which is located at 560 7th St. W., in close proximity to Mancini’s Char House.

Hourglass is poised to offer a unique dining experience, with a menu featuring items like chicken shawarma wraps and Caribbean shrimp tacos, along with a selection of craft cocktails, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages, as outlined in their business plan submitted to the city. The restaurant’s dining area will be situated within the chapel of the building and can accommodate up to 56 patrons, including eight seats at the bar.

The Lodge, which occupies the majority of the building, is set to launch with three puzzle rooms spread across the first and second floors. Additional puzzle rooms may be introduced at later stages, potentially even in the basement, pending approval.

An entity affiliated with Trapped Puzzle Rooms acquired this Gothic Revival-style building, constructed in 1940, for slightly over $1 million in September of last year, according to public records filed with the Minnesota Department of Revenue. The building previously housed Wulff Godbout Funeral Home, which has since relocated to 1485 White Bear Ave.

Trapped Puzzle Rooms currently operates two locations, one in Minneapolis and the other in St. Paul. For now, there are no concrete opening dates for either venues at this time.
