Bill Lee blasted for workforce investment comments
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee was recently called out for comments that he made on his Twitter account. These comments involved investing in local businesses and individuals within the state, of which Lee claimed to ‘lead the nation’. In full, his Tweet read: “Today, we celebrate the hardworking Tennesseans who provide for their families & keep our economy strong with careers in manufacturing. We continue to lead the nation with skilled workforce investments to deliver even greater opportunity for individuals & businesses across TN.”
Despite his clear optimism, not everyone agreed and many used the platform to criticize their governor. Although some of the 52 replies were complimentary towards Lee, there was also a noticeable amount who felt differently.
Replying with cynicism, one Tennesseean wrote: “Our Gov…another day, another photo op. When do you do something to help Tennesseans?”
Similarly, another Twitter user said this: “Bill Lee is a union-busting MAGA. He’s all for giving tax breaks to wealthy corporations & starvation wages for working people. No sick time. Etc. But Bill Lee spends taxpayer money like water as gifts to his MAGA friends like Hillsdale & Betsy DeVoss.”
In fact, there were plenty more comments of a similar nature. If nothing else, this shows how the framing of certain words and events may intend to look good but sometimes, some people just aren’t buying into it.
