Local San Diego Coffeehouse & Bakery announces shock closure

October 9, 2023 by No Comments

Shockingly, the bakery shop Twiggs has recently announced a shock closure. For those wondering, this includes both locations including University Heights and the Adams location. Despite news of the closure, Twiggs did not mention anything on their website or social media pages. Instead, the closure was done very quickly. According to some, long-term staff were given two days’ notice before the shops closed for good. At this moment in time, there is little available information surrounding the closure but it is believed to be permanent.

This will undoubtedly come as bad news for San Diegans as Twiggs has been in the city for several decades and built up a stellar reputation. On their Instagram page, one local was clearly unhappy with the news and wrote: “Twiggs is a thriving community hub! Heartbreaking for the amazing people who worked there to be left with no job. Shameful.”

Twiggs was available to the public as well as significant events such as weddings, quinceañeras, retirements, birthdays, and baby showers. Its inception dates back to 1992 when it was founded by composer and arranger Michael Roth, alongside his wife, artist Jill Moon. However, it has since changed ownership and is now under new management. To date, it is not known what will replace their locations or whether Twiggs will re-open under new ownership at some point.
