Legendary Rootie’s owner Marty Stein passes away

Unfortunately, news has spread around the Buffalo community that Marty Stein has sadly passed away. For years, Stein was the owner of Rootie’s Sports Bar which was mostly known for two things. These were his legendary chicken wings, as well as the famous blue cheese dip that was served alongside them.

If you haven’t been to Rootie’s then ask someone that has. This is because they will attest just how good the blue cheese dip actually was. Seriously, the dip gained iconic status and is definitely a part of Buffalo folklore.

Marty was the mastermind behind this and according to Rooties, the bar sold millions of chicken wings under his ownership. Later on in life, Rootie’s was closed and Marty relocated to Louisville where he opened another Rootie’s. After selling it to new owners, the Louisville creation closed down earlier this year.

Two days back, an ex-friend and employee of Marty’s wrote this on the Rootie’s Facebook page: “RIP my friend. I knew this day was coming, but still, I am not prepared. Marty, we had our ups and downs over the years. You started out as my boss but became so much more.”

At the time of writing, it is not known what Marty’s cause of death was. However, he had been retired for some time and was well into his old age. Undeniably, Marty lived a colorful life and Rootie’s will always be remembered as an iconic Buffalo hangout spot.
