Roy Cooper praises Biden for improving state’s infrastructure – But gains mega backlash in the process
North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper recently took to his personal Twitter account to praise the Biden-Harris administration. Here, he claimed that their investment into North Carolina would improve the state’s infrastructure. Specifically, he wrote: ‘We are grateful for the Biden-Harris Administration’s continued commitment to enhancing North Carolina’s infrastructure. This funding will help make critical improvements to our state’s highway systems.’
Despite his optimism, not everyone saw it this way. Although his comments gained some support, they also gained a fair amount of backlash. In total, a total of 67 comments were left on his post and some certainly didn’t agree with his rhetoric.
This prompted a response by a North Carolina constituent named Dave Halliday who wrote: “Biden and Harris had nothing to do with it. It is the House of Representatives that sets the budget. A Republican majority. The Federal Government gets about 93% of its revenue from us taxpayers in either personal or business taxes. This is our money being “returned” to our state.”
Another user used more choice words to critique Cooper and said: “Stop butt kissing for a political appointment. There are NO Biden Harris funds. You should be grateful to the taxpayers of North Carolina.” If anything, this highlights how in politics, what can be perceived as good by some is not always viewed in the same light by others.
