Kim Reynolds blasted after cost of living comments
Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds was blasted on Twitter after her comments on the cost of living in the state. As well as this, she also boasted about Iowa being the number 1 place to live for young professionals, and similar accolades for raising a family. In true Kim Reynolds style, this was also accompanied by a photo op that showed her shoveling dirt. As you may have gathered, not everyone agreed with her take on things and plenty of people called her out.
Specifically, the tweet read: ‘Des Moines has been ranked #1 for young professionals to live, a top 5 place to raise a family, and #1 for low cost of living. Small wonder that it’s the fastest growing major metro in the Midwest! Soon, visitors will see why right as they step off the plane!’
Here, one user named Judith wrote: “Is that way the population of Des Moines went down so much? Vacant buildings and sky-high rent is hardly low cost of living. You’ve cut Medicare, slashed those on food assistance, and have an out-of-control police force.”
Similarly, another user criticized Reynolds and added: “Are you kidding me? Young people are leaving Iowa in droves. There are few good-paying jobs and literally no perks to living in Iowa. Lousy education poor water quality few natural resources/recreation.”
Interestingly, despite her claims, Reynolds didn’t provide any sources to back up her claims.
