Cult Chicken Shop set to re-open after 5-year hiatus due to fire

After being closed for five years due to a fire, as well as facing delays caused by a pandemic and a lawsuit, the original Wingo’s establishment at 3207 O St. NW, Washington is set to reopen on November 1, as confirmed by Mike Arthur, who owns both this O Street location and the presently operational Wingo’s on Wisconsin Avenue.

This particular Wingo’s used to be a popular spot among Georgetown students, known for its half-price Wednesdays and extended weekend hours, serving a menu featuring buffalo and hot wings, burgers, spicy fries, and other classic late-night food options from 2002 to 2018.

In the aftermath of the 2018 fire, a new Wingo’s with a sit-down restaurant setup opened on Wisconsin Avenue in Glover Park, which was a departure from the original take-out-only format. This Glover Park location offered features like karaoke on Tuesdays and occasional live music. However, according to Arthur, it never quite captured the vibrant atmosphere of the original Georgetown Wingo’s.

To celebrate its reopening, a grand reopening event is planned, complete with complimentary chicken for patrons. It’s worth noting that Wingo’s has faced previous setbacks in terms of reopening timelines, but this time, the reopening date of November 1 has been confirmed and looks good to go.
