Whole Foods announces closure of Midtown location

October 7, 2023 by No Comments

Midtown Whole Foods Market is scheduled to cease operations by the conclusion of the upcoming week. This particular store, which commenced its operations in late 2019, currently occupies the ground level of the Pearl Marketplace Apartment tower.

The initial speculation about this closure originated online and was subsequently brought to our attention by one of our readers. The veracity of this closure was verified by a site visit, during which we engaged with an employee who confirmed the impending closure by the end of the upcoming week.

This story was also confirmed on Reddit where users were clearly touched by its closure. Here, over 160 Houstonians commented on the closure and paid their respects to the store and its workers.

Reportedly, the store is poised to initiate a significant clearance sale, as it appeared to be well-stocked during our visit. Notably, the Midtown location is not the only one facing closure; a similar fate awaits another branch in Toledo, Ohio, which also opened its doors in 2019 and is set to close around the same time. It is worth noting that the Whole Foods store in Midtown holds significance as one of the last two remaining grocery stores in the area, following the closure of Fiesta in 2020. As of this moment, it is not yet known what will replace the store.
