New Fast Food Chicken Shop to open in Charlotte

Chick-fil-A is in the process of expanding its presence once again, this time in Charlotte, where its chicken chain rival, Bojangles, also calls home.

Recent developments include the commencement of demolition work at the former Hardee’s restaurant situated at 8428 University City Blvd. in the northern part of Charlotte. This demolition paved the way for the construction of a new Chick-fil-A restaurant. The new location was also confirmed on the Chick-fil-A website under the ‘coming soon’ section.

In April, a rezoning request was submitted to and approved by the city of Charlotte, outlining plans for the establishment of a Chick-fil-A eatery near Town Center Plaza. The demolition of the former Hardee’s was granted approval this month, as indicated by permits from Mecklenburg County.

Chick-fil-A already boasts a significant presence in the Charlotte region, with over 50 stores across the area, including two within University City. One of these locations is conveniently situated on the UNC Charlotte campus at 9201 University City Blvd, a mere one-mile distance from the upcoming store. Another standalone Chick-fil-A can be found about 1.5 miles away at 8700 University Exec Park Drive.

This expansion in Charlotte marks just one of several strategic moves made by the Atlanta-based chicken chain in the Charlotte region over the past few years. As of this moment in time, it is not known when this branch will officially open.
