Fort Worth’s Mattress Etc. store has finally closed. This time it’s for good. Like many furniture stores, this store had used closing-down sales for years without actually closing down. Nonetheless, this time it is for real and has permanently shut. Undoubtedly, this closure is also mixed with a little irony. The evidence of its closure can be found on Google (screenshotted below) where it claims to be permanently closed, as well as signage on the store which says the same thing.

News of the closure quickly spread on social media. Here, one Fort Worth local even snapped a picture of the remaining stock being taken away in a trailer.

Interestingly, Mattress Etc did not reference the closure beforehand, so it’s fair to say that this was an abrupt move. In fairness, you wouldn’t expect a mattress store to have an active social media presence due to the nature of its business.

To add to the mystery, it is not known what will replace the retail space left behind by Mattress Etc. Nonetheless, due to the location, you would expect this to be replaced soon enough. However, based on this location you really wouldn’t bet against another mattress store popping up at some point which would be typical of the area.
