On Sunday night, a fire broke out at Gnome Cones, situated at 205 N. Elm St. in downtown Denton, resulting in an estimated $100,000 worth of damage, as assessed by the Fire Marshal’s Office.

At approximately 10:15 p.m., the Denton Fire Department received a call and responded within four minutes. Battalion Chief David Boots revealed that the fire originated in the kitchen, which is located at the back of the establishment.

After the fire, Gnome Cones took to Instagram to post a thank you to Denton residents while also writing: “First of all we would like to say thank you to all our Gnomies for all the support over the years. The Gnomes could not be more grateful for having Gnome Cones be a part of your family and the Denton community. We don’t know what is next for Gnome Cones but we hopefully can get back to slinging cones and pops to you in the future again. Stay tuned to our social media for posts about updates.”

Although the fire was under control by 10:38 p.m., fire personnel remained at the scene for several hours. Notably, Gnome Cones was closed at the time of the incident, and fortunately, there were no reported injuries among firefighters or civilians. Chief Boots also noted extensive heat and smoke damage throughout the entire establishment. Importantly, the fire did not spread to neighboring buildings.
