Yesterday, a vehicle collided with the entrance of Yama Sushi Bar in Baltimore. This incident was documented through photographs and shared on the internet. As seen in the image below, the car looked to have completely destroyed a pillar while also causing damage to the glass section of the entrance.

Fortunately, most of the structural integrity of the building remained intact, however, it still looks like significant damage was done that will need to be repaired, and this could take some time (and annoyingly for the owner, a fair amount of insurance money too). Thankfully, there were no reports of severe injuries, highlighting the potential for a much worse outcome had this incident gone badly wrong. Nonetheless, it does make you wonder how someone can lose control of a vehicle so badly to cause it to crash into a restaurant.

The incident gained visibility when an image of the damaged restaurant was posted on Facebook, which highlighted the extent of the damage. Within the online discussion, users gave the Sushi Bar their best wishes and gave emotional support. Accompanying the image, the eatery also wrote: “Dear Yama customers, due to an accident involving an outside vehicle, Yama will temporarily be unable to operate. Luckily, no people were hurt and we apologize for any inconvenience they may have caused. We are awaiting further notice to reopen, thank you.”

Unsurprisingly, the restaurant has announced its temporary closure while the building is repaired. This serves as a reminder of the importance of cautious parking practices. Despite lower vehicle speeds in parking lots, accidents can still occur when drivers exceed safe speeds or become distracted.
