Waffle House on 23rd abruptly closes

September 30, 2023 by No Comments

Yesterday, it was revealed that Waffle House on 23rd had closed permanently. This was shown by its boarded windows which read: ‘Closed. Please visit our Brainerd Road location.’ Based on this, it looks as though it’s literally a case of one door closing, with another opening as it is implied that the Brainerd location may have finally finished its refurbishments that have taken a considerable amount of time.

It is not known whether the 23rd location will be re-opened or whether it is going through its own refurb. It is no secret that this place could do with a lick of paint as it’s now one of Chattanooga’s oldest Waffle House restaurants. However, for now (and in the foreseeable future) it looks like it won’t be re-opening anytime soon. To add to the mystery, there has been no announcement made by Waffle House and it even says that it’s still open on Google.

The image of its closure was originally shared on Reddit where users speculated about its closure. Here, one user even jokingly claimed that it would make for a good Halloween Spirit store. Based on the time of year, this may not be a bad shout either.

Waffle House, founded in 1955 by Joe Rogers Sr. and Tom Forkner in Avondale Estates, Georgia, is an iconic American diner chain celebrated for its 24/7 operation and commitment to delivering high-quality, affordable comfort food.
