Video shows biblical flooding in Hoboken with cars submerged in deep waters
Yesterday, areas of New Jersey got absolutely belted with rain which was akin to something from the bible. Unfortunately, this meant that large parts of Hoboken also got drenched. This video was filmed at 700 Grove and showed sandbags being used to stop the water from entering the ground floor car park. In fairness, these sandbags mostly did their job, albeit water still penetrated the venue.
On the outside though, was a completely different story. Here, heavy rains had completely submerged the street which covered large portions of nearby utility poles. Toward the end of the video, the camera pans to show two cars completely submerged in water which means sadly, they will have been destroyed by the flood.
This video was shared on Reddit where the user who uploaded the video wrote: “It cleared up already. Very surprised by how quickly it went away but the car is still there.”
With this said, the situation was quickly dealt with which is definitely a good thing. At the same time, it does make you sympathize with the two cars affected by the rain though. If you’re new to the area then this may be quite surprising. However, over the years Hoboken has earned a reputation that is notorious for flooding meaning this video may not be particularly surprising for many locals.
