New German Doner Kebab Restaurant opens in Frisco
The internationally acclaimed chain, German Doner Kebab, recently introduced its presence in North Texas by inaugurating its Frisco branch at 12025 E. University Drive. Originally established in Berlin, this beloved fast-food brand has expanded its reach to encompass the UK, UAE, Sweden, Canada, and the United States, with Frisco now joining its list of locations offering its renowned, flavorful doner kebabs.
The Frisco establishment boasts a spacious dining area capable of accommodating up to 77 guests, making it the largest North American site for the brand to date. To fully savor the experience, bring along a group of friends, hearty appetites, and a sense of anticipation to taste what the chain proudly declares, as indicated by numerous signs within the store, as “kebabs prepared to perfection.” We entered with empty stomachs and eager expectations.
German Doner Kebab, affectionately known as GDK by its devoted patrons, is most renowned for its succulent doner meat, meticulously prepared on a rotating spit and freshly sliced upon order. The menu presents a selection of beef, chicken, or a vegetarian option featuring a black bean patty, which can contribute up to 40 grams of protein to your meal, depending on your choice. These delectable kebabs are encased in either a flour tortilla, sprouted seed bread, or GDK’s distinctive waffle-pressed pita, known for its lighter texture compared to traditional gyro bread.
Further elevating the appeal of this fast-casual doner destination are a variety of dressings.
