Governor Greg Gianforte blasted for Montana National Parks comments
Yesterday, Governor Greg Gianforte took to his Twitter account to fight his case over Montana’s National Parks. Here, his status read: “National parks are the responsibility of the federal government, and Montana taxpayers shouldn’t have to pick up the tab because Congress can’t get its job done.”
However, it seems that his comments didn’t go down well with everyone. The post gained over 40 comments and although some of them were in support of the Montana Governor, others used it as a chance to criticize him. The full Tweet can be seen below in more detail.
Of the comments criticizing him, one user wrote: “This is disingenuous. There is no payment mechanism for states to manage national parks. Closed is closed.”
On a similar note, another Twitter user named Doug Odegaard wrote: “Blame this on your Republican buddies. We all get punished by their antics. Congress can’t get its job done on immigration and the border as well. I’d recommend a rant on that too. Not at Biden but at Congress.”
With this in mind, it looks as though Gianforte’s comments weren’t appreciated by all. Based on this, it be interesting to see if Montana does end up footing the bill for the parks or whether they do get funds from elsewhere. Regardless, it looks like it could quickly turn into a very divisive, political issue.
