To residents of Salt Lake City, the closure of Office Max has been coming for years. In fact, you may have wondered how it held on for so long in the first place. Nonetheless, its day of reckoning has finally arrived. This was confirmed with a photo that displayed a large ‘Closing’ sign at the top of its entrance. Although it has been around for decades, it won’t be making it to see 2024. In fairness, it is a mystery as to how it made it out of the 90s in the first place.

The image was uploaded to Reddit and was entitled ‘Honestly surprised they made it this long’. Here, many users gave their own take on things and also agreed that the business was past its best. In some ways, its survival this long is almost impressive.

Interestingly, one user claimed that it was the parking lot that kept the business afloat, writing: “That parking lot made the owner like 1 million dollars a year without him doing anything so it was really hard to get him to sell or do anything with the lot. I wonder what they are going to do with it.” However, this theory has not been confirmed.

Despite its closure, there is some good news for Salt City locals, as this looks set to be turned into a 264-unit multi-use project.
