Lately, you might have observed a significant homeless settlement at McCadden & Sunset in Hollywood. The municipal authorities have recently taken measures to dismantle this encampment entirely, leaving behind cleaner streets. The image was initially shared on Reddit, sparking a passionate debate about the balance between the rights of homeless individuals and the rights of the city. Many also viewed it as a cynical attempt to make the city look better in the build-up to the 2028 Olympics.

As seen, the tents and camping equipment were gone and a garbage truck was also photographed which looked to be taking out the last of the trash on the floor. Despite this, the walls were still adorned with numerous graffiti tags.

Talking of cynicism, one Reddit user had this to say: “We got rid of the encampment by my house. A day and half later they were back on the other side of the street and maybe 20 feet down. We are the lucky ones they at least moved a bit further away. Usually, they just plop back up in the same spot.”

However, one could argue that this action doesn’t necessarily address the underlying issue but essentially relocates it to another location. Nevertheless, it is undeniably gratifying to witness the streets of Los Angeles being restored to their intended function, even if it is only for the short-term
