Milwaukee Bucks promo image makes huge mistake – Using the Calgary Skyline instead

September 28, 2023 by No Comments

Recently, the Milwaukee Bucks signed Damian Lillard from the Portland Trailblazers. Although this was great news for Bucks fans, the social media promo team that unveiled his signing didn’t do a very good job. This is because they showed used a different city skyline which wasn’t even Milwaukee. Instead, it turns out that they used buildings from elsewhere, such as Calgary.

To the uninformed or out-of-towners, you may glance at the image and not really notice. However, not everyone was fooled by this sloppy attempt at a promotional image.

The mistake was originally posted on Reddit where the thread was entitled: ‘Cool! With the Milwaukee skyline in the background…Wait a minute’ Within hours, one internet sleuth had cracked the code and had identified that it was actually the skyline of Calgary.

Here, they wrote: “As someone who has been to Calgary numerous times, it’s definitely Calgary. The curved building with the diamond pattern is The Bow. I can’t imagine whoever made the image somehow doing a search of “Milwaukee Skyline” and came up with Alberta but even if they searched a generic “city skyline”, I’m surprised that the majority of images of Calgary don’t have the Canadian Rockies as a backdrop and it would be fairly difficult to confuse the two. Like you, I can’t fathom how anyone would have made this mistake. Unless they hired someone on Fiverr who has no idea of any North American city?”

Perhaps in times before the internet, this image may have flown under the radar. However, if nothing else it serves as a timely reminder that these days everything comes under scrutiny. So, if you’re going to do a job, make sure you do it well.
