Governor Kevin Stitt lambasted over tax cut plan

It’s no secret that Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt has been calling for tax cuts for a while now. He recently posted about his tax plans on his Twitter account which was captioned: ‘You might’ve heard that I’ve been calling for tax cuts. The idea is simple. I believe you can spend your money better than the government. We can afford it, we can do it responsibly and we will do it without risking core services.’

This gained over 160 comments, and unfortunately for Stitt, not all of them agreed with his optimism either. This wasn’t just a case of left vs. right either, with some users criticizing him for other reasons. His full speech can be seen below.

Replying to his statement, one Twitter user wrote: “We are 50th in education? We are bottom 10 in food insecurity for children. We have some of the worst domestic violence counties in the US. What are “Core Services” in your opinion?”

Similarly, another Tweet wrote: “Considering our state rankings If you don’t have money for fully funding public education, healthcare, our roads and basic infrastructure, I do not think you have the money to cut taxes.”

In fact, many of the other replies were less nice and some involved an array of cuss words and strong allegations. If nothing else, this highlights the disconnect between certain politicians and members of the public.
