Between the Bun announces closure – Blames ‘Entitled labor pool’

September 28, 2023 by No Comments

Founded over 10 years ago, Between The Bun has been one of Indianapolis’s most popular burger spots over the years. Known for its creativity in making quirky combinations and tastes, it announced its closure yesterday. The final day of its operation will be on Sunday, October 1st and until then it is open as usual. Speaking on Facebook, the owner Scott Sims thanked customers and also gave reasons as to why the joint was closing.

Here, the Facebook statement said: “From a bad building/landlord to non-stop construction while in Greenwood. From COVID shutdowns to an unrecognizable entitled labor pool. From insane inflation and the government doing whatever possible to suffocate small businesses to again, non-stop construction compliments of the I-69 project. BTB has continued to persevere. Until now.”

The post gained hundreds of likes and over 80 comments. Here, Indianapolis residents paid their respects and complimented the joint for its years of tasty food. However, not everyone was as complimentary. Over on Reddit, one person put it this way: “Wow this owner manages to blame everything and everyone under the sun except himself. I expected another astounding and comical display of lack of self-awareness, and I was not disappointed. The only reason I’m sad that Between the Bun is closing is that Kitchen Nightmares could’ve made a great episode with this fool. Missed opportunity.”

With this said you could argue that one of Indianapolis’s most divisive restaurants is finally closing its doors. Regardless of your thoughts on the place, it’s certainly been a ride.
