Acclaimed Nak Won Garden Restaurant Re-opens

One of Pittsburgh’s oldest Korean restaurants re-opened its doors yesterday after being closed for months. Nak Won Garden not only re-opened but also had a paint job. Gone was the previous orange exterior, and in was a white and black color scheme.

This comes after the eatery abruptly closed in the later stages of last year. Originally, a sign was put on the front door saying that they would be away from January. Despite little information being given about the closure, it seems like this was genuinely temporary as it’s now back to business as usual.

Located in Shadyside, this restaurant was family-owned and was known for its Korean stew, kimchi, and bibimbap dishes. The re-opening was confirmed on Reddit where a user claimed to have visited and also complimented the new facade.

Over the years, Nak Won Garden received solid reviews from the Pittsburgh community. It is understandable then, that some locals were shocked when it abruptly closed last year. Sometimes, restaurants will claim to pose temporarily, only to never return at all. Nonetheless, it looks like the owners were true to their promise and they are now back as usual. So, if you’re in the area with a taste for Korean food then it may be worth checking out.
