New Japanese Restaurant to open in Los Angeles tomorrow

Budonoki, a two-year-old izakaya pop-up originally established by a trio of experienced figures in the restaurant industry, is making a permanent home in Virgil Village this autumn. The restaurant will be located at 654 N. Virgil Avenue on the ground floor of the Cha Cha Cha condominiums. Notably, Budonoki has previously made appearances at various venues, including Melody Wine Bar, Ototo, and Thunderbolt. The restaurant is ready for business and will officially open tomorrow (September 28th).

Occupying a 1,700-square-foot space at the intersection of Virgil and Melrose avenues, the eatery occupies the same spot as the now-demolished Cha Cha Cha, from which the housing complex derived its name. The former corner space was most recently utilized by the Bolt coffee shop. In the long run, it will be interesting to see whether this restaurant can go one better than its predecessors.

In its upcoming iteration, Budonoki will specialize in bar food infused with distinct Japanese flavors, with a particular emphasis on pressed sushi. The menu will also feature a selection of beverages, including beer, sake, and cocktails.

Over the years, Los Angeles has been known for its good culinary scene. Nonetheless, when Japanese food is done right, it can be delicious. As a result, this will be a welcome addition to the city when it opens tomorrow.
