One of Washington DC’s longest-serving yoga studios has recently closed. Yesterday, a photo of a letter sent from Dupont Circle Yoga explained the circumstances. Here the letter read: ‘Unfortunately due to operational circumstances outside of our control, the teaching staff of Dupont Circle Yoga have decided we cannot continue teaching under the current situation. Therefore, effective October 1, 2023, classes will be canceled until further notice. It has been our true honor and pleasure to teach you, and we remain gracious for your support and community – DCY Teaching Staff.’

The letter was uploaded to Reddit by a member of the studio. Interestingly, they also added: “Management has ignored instructors for months, including a group of long-time teachers trying to buy the studio. So, last classes are Saturday.”

Based on the letter, it is not known when the studio will open again, or if it will open at all. In short, it still leaves many questions that aren’t answered. On a similar note, it is not known whether the closure is based on a lease disagreement, or whether it’s due to politics within the studio. Nonetheless, hopefully it returns in some capacity at some point as it would be a shame if it closed forever. Over the years, the studio received positive reviews and was liked within the community. Nonetheless, its future now looks uncertain.
