Blue Earl Brewing Company announces closure
Yesterday, Blue Earl Brewing announced that it would be permanently closing down with this Saturday being its last day of operation. This abrupt announcement was made on their Instagram page and was met with shock from locals. Here, the statement read: ‘It’s with a heavy heart and overwhelming sadness that we announce the closure of Blue Earl Brewing Company. This is the last week of service at Blue Earl. Stop in and say goodbye. We love you Delaware, Blue Earl family, friends and fans everywhere. Thank you for 9 years of memories.’
In total, the post garnered over 50 comments and hundreds of likes. Here, the community paid their respects to the brewery which was open for nearly 10 years. This comes shortly after Fordham closed down, meaning Delaware is now two breweries down compared to a few months ago.
Reacting to the closure, one local wrote: “Huge loss for the beer community in Delaware. Honeysuckle Rose. Fantastic beer! My favorite in Delaware!” under the Instagram post. Aside from the announcement to close, Blue Earl Brewery did not clarify why they were closing and whether it was to do with financial or personal reasons. It it not known what will happen to the venue after their departure either. Nonetheless, if you still want to drink there then you have until 11pm on Saturday which is when it shuts for good.
