The owner of Three Carrots, a vegan restaurant situated in Fountain Square and one of the few vegan dining establishments in Indianapolis, recently announced its impending closure at the start of the upcoming month. On Wednesday, owner Ian Phillips conveyed this news through posts shared on Instagram, revealing that the restaurant’s final day of operation would be on October 1st. Phillips explained that despite making efforts to reduce expenses, mounting bills had compelled him to make what he described as “the most difficult decision I’ve ever had to face” — the closure of the restaurant.

The lengthy post gained over 280 comments and more than 1200 likes on the platform. Here, Indianapolis residents paid their respects as well as their condolences that the restaurant was closing. Throughout its 6 years of service, Three Carrots gained a stellar reputation in the community. Here, it received positive reviews online and seemingly had a strong following. For some, this will only make its closure even more shocking.

Ian Phillips inaugurated Three Carrots in December 2017, having previously run a counter-service stall in City Market since the summer of 2014. Three Carrots gained acclaim for its specialty in crafting vegan interpretations of beloved comfort food classics, featuring items such as seitan tenderloins, caprese grilled cheese, cauliflower steaks, and smoked tofu on its menu.
