Approximately 15 years after its inception at 2340 W. Braker Lane in North Austin, Circle Brewing Co., co-founded by Ben Sabel and Judson Mulherin, has officially shuttered its doors. Elsewhere, the facility at 816 Lexington Road in Elgin will continue to operate for a limited time.

In an announcement released on the evening of September 18, accessible on both the Circle Brewing website and across social media platforms, the company acknowledged the significant transformations in the Austin brewing landscape since its establishment in 2010.

The website statement began by saying: ‘It is with a heavy heart and the utmost sadness that we must announce the closing of Circle Brewing Company. It is hard for us to believe that we have been at this for almost 15 years, although some of those years certainly went by faster than others.’

According to the founders’ statement, the Braker Lane location has ceased operations immediately, while the Elgin branch is set to remain in operation until at least September 24. During this grace period, they will be offering discounts on any remaining drafts, six-packs, and merchandise.

Over the years the Austin location gained hundreds of positive reviews and was highly regarded as one of the best breweries in the city. For fans of the company, there is at least one more week left of drinking to be had until it’s final goodbye on the 24th.
