Hidden camera found filming public on Ludlow and Clifton

Today, an eagle-eyed Cincinnati resident spotted that a hidden camera had been rigged up to a utility pole that was overlooking the park on Ludlow and Clifton. According to the photographer, this was a Ring camera and it looked very out of place due to the wiring that surrounded it. In other words, it’s safe to assume that this was not the work of the local government. Instead, it could have been used for more sinister motives such as voyeurism or criminal activity.

The findings were originally posted on Reddit which prompted an alarmed backlash. Here, one user wrote: “Call the police and report this, seriously. This is very concerning and it doesn’t look like anything the city would have put up. It may be nothing, it may be a nosy Karen, but it definitely needs a closer look.”

While it is legal for the authorities such as the Cincinnati police department to film the public for safety reasons, it is understood to be a crime to place cameras on property that is not owned by the individual in Cincinnati. In other words, as this utility pole is not owned by an individual, this means that their camera placement is not legal.

As mentioned earlier, this would be fine if the camera was placed there by the city. However, it looks as though this is not the case. It is understood that at the time of writing, this camera remains in place.
