San Jose to get new restaurant and bar

The owner of a successful pub in San Jose is progressing with plans to establish a new restaurant and bar in the downtown area, having received the green light from city authorities.

This upcoming establishment, which is yet to be named, is set to occupy two ground floor spaces located in two interconnected buildings at 189 and 177 W. Santa Clara St., in close proximity to the Almaden Avenue intersection. One of these spaces is situated within the Lyndon Building, which is also partly leased by The Brit.

The owner of the establishment, David Mulvehill, expressed his intention to launch a comprehensive restaurant and bar that will provide brunch, lunch, and dinner services. Mulvehill explained that the original concept of a craft cocktail bar at 177 W. Santa Clara St. underwent a transformation when he successfully acquired tenant space in the neighboring building. This expansion enabled the inclusion of a restaurant featuring a spacious, open kitchen.

On Wednesday, the San Jose Planning Commission granted approval for a conditional use permit, allowing the business to operate daily until 2 a.m. According to city reports, the restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. each night, following which it will transition into a “drinking establishment” operating until 2 a.m. Unfortunately, for now there are no extra details. So, it could be a considerable amount of time until this project gets off the ground.
