Popular Sacramento Donut Shop suddenly closes without warning

September 16, 2023 by No Comments

Once again, Southside Park’s local doughnut shop has closed its doors. Doughbot, which had returned to its spot on the corner of 10th and U streets in Sacramento’s Southside Park neighborhood with much anticipation just a year ago, has ceased its operations. This shutdown follows shortly after Buffalo Pizza & Ice Cream, which shared the same retail space as Doughbot, relocated back to its previous location at 2600 21st St. in Land Park in August.

In a September Instagram post, the bakery had informed its customers of a two-week closure to strategize for both wholesale and customer orders. However, signage placed outside the storefront at 2030 10 St. now confirms that the business will not be reopening. The space will be taken over by a new restaurant called Thai Time.

Doughbot made its comeback in 2022 following an eight-year hiatus, as reported by previous articles in the Sacramento Bee. Its initial location was at the same spot where the Japanese restaurant Binchoyaki is now situated at 2226 10th St. Throughout its establishment, the trendy American bakery incorporated themes related to robotics, futurism, and the history of Sacramento’s Southside Park neighborhood. Undoubtedly, this closure will come as closure to many. Over the years, Doughbot had carved out a solid reputation in the area and had only just re-opened. Not only this but due to its abrupt closure it also brings up more questions than it does answers.
