Spanning 1.2 acres, this facility is located on the former site of a Hometown Buffet, positioned just two blocks away from the 5 freeway. It is anticipated to open its doors in early 2024, marking the first of six charging centers planned for Southern California by Rove. The company has also disclosed its plans to establish charging centers in Corona, Costa Mesa, Long Beach, Torrance, and Rancho Cucamonga.

The Santa Ana site will serve as Rove’s inaugural charging center, with the company’s overarching goal of launching 20 centers within the region by 2026. A groundbreaking ceremony for the Santa Ana facility is scheduled for September 28th at 1008 E. 17th St. Notably, these charging stations are capable of swiftly charging a vehicle in as little as 15 minutes, thanks to Rove’s direct-current fast chargers, which can achieve speeds of up to 350 kilowatts. The company assures that its charging fees will align with prevailing market rates and will be compatible with a variety of EV models.

To ensure operational efficiency and security, each center will be staffed by three individuals during daytime hours, with 24-hour security coverage. The center’s lounge area will be accessible around the clock and will feature vending machines stocked with convenient food options from the onsite market. Rove has not yet revealed the identity of its food vendor partner.

Rove, whose inception dates back to 2018, has outlined plans for these facilities to contribute to renewable energy generation through the utilization of onsite solar panels and battery storage. This renewable energy will serve as a supplementary source for the electric grid during periods of peak demand.

Rove’s upcoming charging center locations include:

  • 1341 W. 6th St., Corona
  • 1620 W. Wardlow Ave., Long Beach
  • 1861 190th St., Torrance
  • Rancho Cucamonga (specific address pending)
  • Costa Mesa (specific address pending)
