A contemporary Italian-American eatery is set to make its debut in a vibrant location in downtown San Jose. This new establishment, known as Rollati Ristorante, is scheduled to open its doors on Friday, September 15th, at the ground level of the luxurious Miro apartment complex situated on East Santa Clara Street.

The restaurant’s menu will feature a delightful array of dishes that evoke nostalgia, including crispy seared lasagna and chicken parmesan. Notably, the spotlight will be on freshly made, in-house pasta, with standout offerings like the linguine alle vongole, generously laden with clams, drawing inspiration from the personal experiences of Vine Hospitality CEO Obadiah Ostergard, who fondly recalls harvesting quahogs (hard clams) alongside his grandfather off Cape Cod.

Rollati Ristorante’s culinary influences extend beyond Italy, embracing the diverse flavors found in Italian-American kitchens. The pizza offerings, such as the tantalizing spicy pie with hot honey, mozzarella, soppressata (dry salami), and basil, will offer a harmonious blend of Neapolitan and New York styles, characterized by dough that undergoes a day of fermentation. The menu also includes beloved classics like pork saltimbocca served with a savory jus and garlic-infused mashed potatoes, classic cheesy chicken parmesan, and house-made mozzarella sticks.

Nonetheless, the star of the show here is undoubtedly the fresh pasta, and patrons can even catch a glimpse of the pasta-making process through a window within the dining area. A standout pasta dish is the “thousand-layer” lasagna, brimming with a rich medley of meat, cheese, and sauce, before being expertly seared in a cast-iron pan—a loving homage to the coveted crispy corner piece of lasagna.

Rollati Ristorante offers an indoor dining space accommodating 74 guests, complemented by two private dining areas and outdoor seating for 52. The interior design seamlessly marries modern aesthetics with a dash of nostalgia, evoking the ambiance of an Italian restaurant in 1950s America. The space was meticulously crafted by Oakland’s Arcsine, the same design firm behind Vine’s Meso Modern Mediterranean in San Jose, Petite Left Bank in Tiburon, and the Spanish-inspired Duende in Oakland.

In addition to its dining offerings, Rollati Ristorante will also feature an upscale market, where patrons can conveniently purchase prepared items like salads and meatballs to-go, along with a curated selection of homemade sauces, pasta, and specialty Italian products.
