It’s not very common to see a restaurant stay open for over four decades. Nonetheless, this is what The Pond Bar & Grill managed to achieve. With this said, it literally served food and drink to several generations and became a key hub in the Delaware community. Unfortunately, though, everything must come to an end at some point.

On their official Facebook page, The Pond made the announcement days ago that they would be closing and said this: “Greetings from The Pond! It is with great sadness that we are announcing that The Pond will be closing. Saturday, September 9th will be our official closing party, starting at 11 AM. All of us at The Pond want to thank EVERYONE for all your support over the many years. There have been many great times and so many friendships have been made because of chance meetings at The Pond. For that, we are very grateful.” This meant that yesterday evening was their last night of business before closing for good.

Similarly, other people speculated that the closure came after the restaurant chose to move location. Although The Pond was located downtown for years, its recent move to a different venue may have lost significant footfall with the general public. Regardless of the reasons why, it’s goodbye to this once-great Delaware business.
