Huge truck crashes into Memphis bridge
Yesterday, a large truck crashed into an 11-foot-8 bridge located on the Carolina Street underpass. According to the person who uploaded the video, this was a fairly regular occurrence in the area, where delivery trucks would often crash into the underside of the bridge while trying to slip through.
As seen in the video below, the truck driver can be seen giving his details to the local Memphis police. As the video continues, you can also see the damage done to the truck which is pretty extensive. This often happens when truck drivers try to chance their route and misjudge the height of these bridges. Even though the driver was probably going at a pretty slow speed, it was still not enough to defeat the laws of physics.
Unsurprisingly, this created a delay in traffic with a number of vehicles being forced to turn around due to the bridge being temporarily blocked. Speaking on Reddit, one local said: “That damn bridge has taken a beating from this over the years. I used to live right there…you wouldn’t believe all of the U-Hauls that’s also got stuck.”
Although anecdotal, this also coincides with what the original cameraman had to say on the bridge, which seems to have earned an infamous reputation over the years when dealing with large vehicles. Thankfully, the truck was eventually removed and traffic in the area went back to normal. Nonetheless, this won’t have been a pleasant experience for the driver.
