Meeting in Cedar Rapids to discuss MidAmerican gas rate hike

The Iowa Utilities Board is conducting public hearings this week to discuss MidAmerican’s proposed natural gas rate increase.

During these meetings, MidAmerican customers will have the opportunity to voice their opinions regarding the proposed general rate increases and provide feedback on the overall quality of MidAmerican’s services.

Representatives from MidAmerican, the IUB, and the Office of Consumer Advocate (OCA) will be in attendance at all meetings to listen to public comments and address any questions. The OCA serves as the representative for the general interests of customers in all IUB proceedings.

On Tuesday, individuals can meet with the company and state regulators at the Olympic South Side Theater on 3rd Street SE in downtown Cedar Rapids, starting at 6:00 pm. With this in mind, Sioux City residents will certainly be hoping for some good news and hopefully the price increases will not be too steep.

If nothing else, this shows the growing living costs that Iowans are facing which has been the case for the past couple of years. And, with more prices set to rise in the coming months, it sadly doesn’t look as though any positive news will be coming out soon.
