The Sidney, Iowa, Championship Rodeo, renowned as one of the nation’s premier rodeos, is gearing up to celebrate its 100th year of competitive rodeo from August 1 to August 5.

Over the years, this rodeo has garnered a remarkable reputation with an array of attractions, legendary rodeo performers, and numerous accolades. Notably, during the 1960s to the 1990s, the rodeo drew significant attention due to the participation of popular TV stars and singers.

The rodeo achieved a significant milestone in 2015 when it was inducted into the esteemed Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame. In the same year, it was honored with the Congressional Record Award by Congressman David Young and recognized as one of the top five finalists for the 2015 PRCA Medium Rodeo of the Year.

To mark the momentous occasion of their 100th year, they are offering 100th-year anniversary buckles and back numbers for sale, with the proceeds contributing to fundraising efforts. Souvenirs will be available for purchase at designated tables during the event.

Adding to the festivities, the Sidney Alumni Band is set to participate in this year’s celebration, adding a nostalgic touch to the event.

Rodeo enthusiasts can look forward to exciting highlights throughout the event. The Miss Sidney Rodeo Coronation will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the arena, promising an enchanting spectacle. On Aug. 2, Boys and Girls Scouts, 4-H, and F.F.A. members wearing their uniforms will receive free admission to the performance. Additionally, Aug. 4 will be dedicated to Relay for Life Night, where attendees are encouraged to wear pink and purple in support of breast cancer awareness and the cause of Relay for Life. Veterans and their spouses can also avail of discounted tickets by contacting the ticket office for the Aug. 1-3 performances.

To accommodate visitors, the parking lot gates for the rodeo will open at 5:30 p.m. each night, followed by the opening of the arena gates at 6 p.m. The rodeo action will kick off at 8 p.m., promising an unforgettable experience for all attendees.
