Popular discount store announces permanent closure after just one year of business
Although it had only been open for just over one year, the Black Friday Deals store at 4415 Augusta Road has now closed indefinitely. In fact, it actually closed in late November but this was not reported on at the time. News of the closure was announced on their Facebook page where a brief statement was given which read: ‘We apologize for the inconvenience, this branch is closed.’ Aside from this, no other reason was given. However, you would assume this was financially motivated seeing as the store didn’t seem like a labor of love.
Word of the closure was greeted as bad news by various Savannah residents. Reacting to the announcement, hundreds of users mentioned their sadness regarding the closure of the store. As the name suggests, Black Friday Deals was a store based on bargains. Here, they would get in cheap, bulk goods such as Amazon returns and sell them at discount prices. As a result, customers could potentially buy name-brand goods for significantly less.
News of the closure was also mentioned on Reddit where one user speculated on the closure, adding: “It was great when it first opened. But toward the end, I guess they gave up trying. People would tear all the boxes open and scatter the stuff around so if you wanted to buy something you couldn’t find all the parts.”
At this moment in time, it is not known what will replace the establishment or whether it will re-open elsewhere at some point.
