Popular Taco Chain to open first Atlanta location
A popular taco chain from Texas is expanding its reach into the Southeast with its first Georgia location.
Torchy’s Tacos is set to open at 1055 Howell Mill Road NW in suite 208, according to a recent building permit application filed with the City of Atlanta. The restaurant will occupy a 4,043-square-foot space in the Star Metals District of West Midtown. The permit indicates that the renovation will involve the installation of new partitions, ceilings, finishes, and fixtures, as well as a new railing for the existing patio.
The Star Metals Offices building, also located at the property, is expected to house the upcoming eatery.
Founded in 2006 as a food truck in Austin, Texas, Torchy’s Tacos has grown into a chain with over 100 locations across 14 states. The company’s success has been driven by organic, customer-driven growth, both in major markets and smaller college towns. Torchy’s Tacos does not franchise and currently has no plans to do so.
The menu features a variety of tacos, including breakfast tacos, as well as chips and dip, sides like street corn, rice, and beans. The beverage menu includes margaritas and signature cocktails. While the exact opening date for the Atlanta location is unknown, a job posting indicates that the company is seeking a managing partner in the city.
