Gavin Newsom bashed over health insurance comments after mocking Trump and others
Recently, California Governor Gavin Newsom was criticized over his comments regarding US health insurance. By praising Obamacare, he also bashed a number of Republicans in the process, including the likes of De Santis, Trump, and Nikki Haley. As you can imagine, this tweet was highly divisive with many Republicans going after Newsom in the comments section.
Specifically, he wrote: ‘Ron DeSantis voted 14 times in Congress to take away 30 million Americans’ health insurance. He would do it again. Nikki Haley will too. And Trump is leading the charge to get rid of it. If the Affordable Care Act is repealed… -Rates will skyrocket. – Young people will be kicked off family plans. – Folks with cancer — or even asthma — will be denied coverage. This is serious. The @GOP are playing politics with lives.’
Replying to this, one user named Paul Szypula claimed: “There’s nothing “affordable” about Obamacare. Premiums have skyrocketed under it. Quality and availability of care is low. Gavin Newsom doesn’t care — he’s the highest-paid governor in the US at $224k a year. His net worth is $42 million and his total yearly income is $5 million.”
Similarly, another user quipped: “Obamacare tripled my premiums and reduced my quality of care. That’s not affordable – it’s tragically expensive.”
Unfortunately for Newsom, these were just a few of the hundreds of comments aimed in his direction, which shows just how divisive California can be at times.
