Little Villa Restaurant owner Bob Mele passes away

September 22, 2023 by No Comments

As per information found on this website, Robert “Bob” M. Mele, Sr., who resided in Mount Prospect, IL, peacefully departed this world on Monday, September 11, 2023. Bob held a prominent role within his family and was highly regarded in his local community. His journey in the restaurant industry commenced alongside his father-in-law at Cesar’s Pizzeria in Des Plaines, IL, a partnership that lasted until 1959. Subsequently, he took the initiative to establish and launch the Little Villa Restaurant in Des Plaines which successfully ran until April of this year.

After more than 50 years in the restaurant business, Bob closed Little Villa and retired. Unfortunately, just six months into his retirement he passed away. Here, he is survived by his wife, kids, and grandchildren. Over the years, Little Villa had received positive reviews from the Des Plaines community and was one of the few pizzerias that consistently survived. This was evermore impressive when put against decades of changing economics and financial hardships over the years.

Back in April, when Little Villa announced its closure on Facebook, hundreds of people liked the post and commented, paying their respects to both Bob and his family. Sometimes, it’s more than just a restaurant closing and in this case, it clearly had a big impact on the local community. Because of this, we’re certain that Bob will be missed by many.
