Popular Chicken Shop Chain to open in Newark

While initial details remain unknown, it looks like Newark is getting another Wingstop. Perhaps the most obvious indicator of this was the large sign that has recently appeared on the corner of Springfield Avenue and Grove Street. With this said, it looks as though its opening is imminent but even still, this may not open until next year as the inside re-modeling of restaurants can often take time to complete.

The photo of the new Wingstop sign was originally uploaded to Reddit where Newark locals speculated about its opening. Here, one user wrote: “Congrats to Irvington, at least I don’t have to travel to Clay Street or Route 22, for Wingstop anymore.”

Founded in 1994 in Garland, Texas, by Antonio Swad and Bernadette Fiaschetti. It was initially a small, neighborhood restaurant that specialized in serving made-to-order chicken wings. Wingstop primarily offers chicken wings, bone-in or boneless, which are cooked to order and served with a choice of different sauces and seasonings. Customers can choose from various flavors, ranging from mild to extremely spicy, along with various dipping sauces and sides.

Furthermore, rap artist Rick Ross famously became a franchisee in 2015 and invested in Wingstop by purchasing several Wingstop restaurant locations. His investment in the franchise was widely reported, and he even released a track titled “Wingstop” to celebrate his involvement with the brand.
