If you’ve lived in Lexington over the years, you may have heard of the Sri Lankan pop-up shop, Tuk Tuk Snack Shop. It turns out that after years of hard work, they are now opening a new brick-and-mortar location which is opening on September 22nd (next Friday).

This was announced on their Facebook page and on the official site. The new location is at 124 Malabu Dr. Suite 110, Lexington.

The owner of Tuk Tuk Snack Shop has made quite a name for herself in the local culinary scene. Sam Fore embarked on her culinary journey in 2016 with a series of pop-up restaurants known as Tuk Tuk Sri Lankan Bites.

Since then, her career has been filled with culinary achievements, including having her curry tomato pie featured on the front cover of “Food & Wine” magazine, catering for the renowned “Top Chef” host Padma Lakshmi, making guest appearances on “Christopher Kimball’s Milk Street,” and touring the country to cook in kitchens recognized by Michelin stars and the James Beard Foundation. Notably, she earned the distinction of being named a Finalist for Best Chef: Southeast in the 2023 James Beard Foundation Awards.

Tuk Tuk Snack Shop’s menu is a delightful fusion of Sri Lankan culinary techniques and ingredients with beloved Southern dishes. Patrons can look forward to a menu offering an array of sandwiches, substantial snacks, side dishes, bakery delights, and desserts.

As for its hours of operation, Tuk Tuk Snack Shop welcomes customers from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. every Monday and from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sundays. The establishment takes a break and is closed on Tuesdays. From Wednesday to Saturday, it operates from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
