Bally’s Casino temporary location almost ready for business

Chicago is on the brink of welcoming a casino, but even prior to its inauguration, it has sparked a range of opinions.

Before the doors of the temporary Bally’s Casino facility at the Medinah Temple can swing open, there are still some administrative matters to address. State regulators are scheduled to conduct site inspections this week to determine whether the Illinois Gaming Board grants approval. Subsequently, a license could be granted.

While the slot machines are currently operational, the establishment remains inaccessible to the public. On Wednesday and Thursday, the Illinois Gaming Board will conduct evaluations. Should it gain approval, the temporary casino could commence operations in a matter of days, potentially contributing an annual revenue of $55 million to the city.

Bally’s anticipates hiring over 500 employees for the Medinah Temple venue and assures that they are prepared to address traffic congestion and safety concerns.

With approximately 750 slot machines and 50 table games in place, this setup serves as an interim solution while the permanent River West location, set to open in 2026, is under construction. Bally’s will refrain from announcing an official grand opening date until the Illinois Gaming Board formally endorses the site.
