Man charged with sexual abuse, child endangerment

A Marshalltown man was arrested and charged with two felony counts of sexual abuse on Saturday after the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office served a warrant on multiple alleged offenses that also included domestic violence and child endangerment.

Rudy Singh, 33, who was incarcerated in Story County at the time of his arrest, stands accused of sexually abusing a victim under the age of 12 repeatedly over a five-year period from 2014 to 2019. If convicted of second-degree sexual abuse, he could face up to 25 years in prison on each count.

A separate claim alleges that between Aug. 10 and Sept. 2 of 2020, Singh physically assaulted a victim on multiple occasions by punching the victim in the face and chest. Another domestic violence charge filed in connection with the case accuses him of punching and kneeing the same victim in the chest between April and June of 2021.

Because a minor was allegedly present during the 2020 domestic incident, Singh has also been charged with four counts of child endangerment, each an aggravated misdemeanor.

Singh is currently being held in the Marshall County Jail on a $25,000 cash only bond, and an initial appearance has been set for Nov. 29.
