Two juveniles injured in two-vehicle accident in Riverside

Two juveniles have been injured in a two-vehicle accident in Riverside.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident occurred just before 7:45 Thursday morning on Highway 22 just east of Highway 218. The accident report indicates 16-year-old Malachi Sexton of Riverside was driving a 1993 Jeep Wrangler westbound when he tried to turn left onto Enterprise Drive. Sexton failed to yield, and was hit by an eastbound 2013 Volvo truck being driven by 85-year-old Lloyd Richards of Hills.

Sexton and one of his passengers, 12-year-old Austyn Sexton of Riverside, were each transported by Washington County Ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. The extent of their injuries has not been released.

Malachi Sexton was charged with Failure to Yield.
