Waukee man allegedly chokes wife while arguing

A Waukee man was arrested Sunday for allegedly choking his wife in the course of an argument.

Adam David Mead, 39, of 705 Indian Ridge Dr., Waukee, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness and obstruction of emergency communications.

The incident began about 2:45 a.m. Sunday in the 700 block of Indian Ridge Drive in Waukee, where officers of the Waukee Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The officers made contact with Mead, who said “that he and his wife had been in an argument and that it was not a big deal,” and he “repeatedly (said) he did not want to talk about it,” according to court records.

Mead told the officers that the victim “bit him and that he had a scratch on his face,” but he “was unwilling to talk about why she did those things” and was “unwilling to cooperate with the investigation,” according to court records.

The victim told officers that Mead “held her down on the bed by her arms, leaving visible bruises on her upper right arm, and had placed his hand around her neck,” according to court records.

She also said Mead “had thrown and broken her phone.”

The officers determined that Mead “was the primary aggressor in the situation.”

Mead was held in the Dallas County Jail prior to his release. A hearing will be scheduled in Dallas County District Court.

Mead was convicted of disorderly conduct in 2003 in Woodbury County District Court.
